TPMS - Orange Electronics

What is a TPMS?

A tire pressure monitoring system, or TPMS, is a warning system that alerts a driver of any abnormal air pressure in one or more of the vehicle’s tires. Pressure and temperature sensing transmitters are mounted inside each tire and individually communicate with the vehicle’s computer (ECU) for display on the dashboard.

**Not all vehicles are equipped with TPMS sensors. Some vehicles come equipped from factory with TPMS, or an aftermarket TPMS system can be installed into a vehicle. You can order your aftermarket TPMS through Extreme Wheel.

Do you have TPMS sensors on your winter rims, too?
If you change-over your tires in the winter season, you need to have a new set of TPMS sensors for your winter rims.

Benefits of TPMS

Safety Benefits
With proper tire inflation, you will experience shorter stopping distances and improved vehicle handling in all types of road conditions. Under-inflated tires play a role in loss of control accidents, hydroplaning, longer braking distances and they shorten the tire’s tread life.

TPMS can also prevent three out of four roadside flats. For your safety, and the safety of others, you should check your tire pressure monthly.

Economic Benefits
Under-inflated tires may increase fuel consumption significantly. The average driver can save over $200 per year in gas costs, by driving a vehicle equipped with TPMS.

Under-inflated tires may reduce tire tread life by approximately 15% and increases the frequency of replacing tires.
So there are two ways you can save money by installing TPMS sensors on your vehicle:
1.) Installing tires less often          2.) Less fuel consumption

Environmental Benefits
By maintaining proper tire pressure, you will benefit the environment by improving your vehicle’s fuel consumption and you will reduce your vehicle’s greenhouse gas emissions.
